The Genetics Prize Nomination & Selection Criteria

Nominations for the Genetics Prize are invited annually from the field of genetics.
These may include original discoveries in genomic organization, function, regulation, variation, and transmission. Nominations for the 2008 Genetics Prize open April 2, 2007 and close December 31, 2007.

Nominations may be submitted by individuals, organizations, and institutions that are active in or have an appreciation for contemporary genetic research and study. Self-nominations are not accepted. Letters of support from individuals outside of the nominee's own institution or research group will be required.

Inasmuch as the Genetics Prize seeks to honor individuals who have made paradigm shifting additions to human knowledge, nominators should specifically address:

  • the scientific and humanistic insights that may flow from the nominee's work;
  • the nominee's efforts to communicate his/her discoveries and insights to the scientific and lay communities;
  • the leadership roles the nominee has played in his/her profession.

The official Nomination Form should be filled out and submitted online, How To Nominate. For additional information, please contact Georgeann P. McNicholas at The Peter and Patricia Gruber Foundation. Phone: 340-775-8011; Email: georgeann@gruberprizes.org.
