The Justice Prize Nomination & Selection Criteria

The Justice Prize"Justice is an equitable approach to law and society, which transcends conventional boundaries, either in theory or action, and improves the human condition while inspiring others to do so. The Prize recognizes a person or an entity that has promoted and enhanced justice and respect for the rights and yearnings of all mankind."

Justice Prize, Peter and Patricia Gruber Foundation

Nominations for the Justice Prize are invited annually and may be submitted by individuals, organizations, or institutions that are active in or have an appreciation for the theory and practice of justice. Self-nominations are not acceptable. Nominations for the 2008 Justice Prize open April 2, 2007 and close December 31, 2007.

Inasmuch as the Justice Prize seeks to honor individuals who have made paradigm shifting additions to our knowledge and pursuit of justice, nominators should specifically address:

  • The political, social, legal and humanistic insights that may flow from the nominee’s work;
  • The nominee’s efforts to communicate his/her insights to the legal and lay communities;
  • The leadership roles the nominee has played in his/her profession.

The official Nomination Form should be filled out and submitted online, How To Nominate. For additional information, please contact Georgeann P. McNicholas at The Peter and Patricia Gruber Foundation. Phone: 340-775-8011; Email:georgeann@gruberprizes.org.
